Book your 8-yard skip today

The 8-yard skip is the most popular skip in the UK and holds around 60-80 bin bags. Therefore, due to its larger size, it is ideal for carrying out heavy building work, renovation projects, and large domestic jobs.

Whilst an 8-yard skip may still be able to be placed on your drive, they can also be placed in a convenient place on your road if a skip hire permit is obtained from the council.

Here at Kenny Skip Hire, we will organise your skip hire permit for you. Therefore, convenience will be maximised, and your projects will be best placed to be completed smoothly.

Also, our 7-day skip hire means that you will have plenty of time to fill your skip and complete your projects. Our committed customer service team will always endeavour to arrange a pickup time which suits you and ensure your customer experience is of the highest standard.

Thank you Kenny Skip Hire for a fabulous service. You guidance helped me select the correct skip for my project, you organised the road permit with the council, and helped with the delivery times to fit in with my tradesmen. When I plan my next DIY project, will be back in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an 8 yard skip hold?

Your skip should be level once loaded; this means that the waste doesn’t pass the skip walls.  When filling your skip, we suggest that you start with any heavy or bulky items first, saving any small, loose items for the end.

Items such as chairs can create a lot of wasted space, so consider breaking down these items and other waste such as cardboard boxes.

How long can I hire my skip for?

Our skips are automatically on hire for 7 days.  You can ask for collection earlier than this if required and we will endeavour to collect as required.

What will happen with my waste?

Your waste will be processed through our state-of-the-art facility and at least 99% will be either recycled or used as a fuel in an energy & waste plant.  We send less than 1% to landfill.

What will happen if I haven’t finished loading my skip by the collection date?

We would ask that you call us in advance and if the skip isn’t scheduled to be sent back out, we will try to give you a day or two to complete your project.

What can I put in an 8 yard skip?

Skips are for general and inert waste such as soil, garden waste, paper, plastics, wood, old furniture etc.  If you are unsure about a specific waste type or item, please check our ‘what can’t I put in a skip’ list first and if you do not find your answer please call our Customer Service Team on 0161 790 3737 (option 1) who will be happy to assist.

How and when do I pay for my skip?

We can take payment by credit card; we can also email you a link to pay via WorldPay or alternatively you are able to pay cash to the driver on delivery.

Do I need a permit for my skip?

You will only require a permit if the skip is placed on public land or road.  We can organise these for you and they are invoiced at the same rate as your local council charges.

What can't you put in the skip?

The following items are by arrangement only and will incur additional charges if not agreed beforehand:

  • Mattresses
  • Plasterboard
  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • TVs
  • Monitors
  • Gas cylinders
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Tyres
  • Car batteries
  • Large tree stumps and roots
  • Large amounts of carpet
  • Carpet tiles
  • Vinyl flooring
  • Ceiling tiles
  • Roofing felt
  • Insulation or food waste
