FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does a 4 yard skip hold?

Your skip should be level once loaded; this means that the waste doesn’t pass the skip walls.  When filling your skip, we suggest that you start with any heavy or bulky items first, saving any small, loose items for the end.

Items such as chairs can create a lot of wasted space, so consider breaking down these items and other waste such as cardboard boxes.

How long can I hire my skip for?

Our skips are automatically on hire for 7 days.  You can ask for collection earlier than this if required and we will endeavour to collect as required.

What will happen with my waste?

Your waste will be processed through our state-of-the-art facility and at least 99% will be either recycled or used as a fuel in an energy & waste plant.  We send less than 1% to landfill.

What will happen if I haven’t finished loading my skip by the collection date?

We would ask that you call us in advance and if the skip isn’t scheduled to be sent back out, we will try to give you a day or two to complete your project.

How fast will I get my skip?

If you order before 10am we will endeavour to get the skip to you on the same day.  Most skips are delivered the following day, however you can also choose a date in the future to suit your project.

Please allow some flexibility around delivery/collection times.  Your skip can be scheduled for delivery either in the morning or afternoon but can be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances such as heavy traffic.  You can call on the day, and we will endeavour to provide you with a more specific time.  If it is being placed on a driveway or public road, with easy access, and you have paid in advance, you do not need to be present for the delivery/collection.

How and when do I pay for my skip?

We can take payment by credit card; we can also email you a link to pay via WorldPay or alternatively you are able to pay cash to the driver on delivery.

How and when do I order my skip?

We have 2 options that you can choose from.

  1. You can either call our Customer Service Team on 0161 790 3737 (option 1) or
  2. You can go to kennyskiphire.co.uk where you can book and pay online

Do I need a permit for my skip?

You will only require a permit if the skip is placed on public land or road.  We can organise these for you and they are invoiced at the same rate as your local council charges.

Where can I put my skip?

Your skip can be placed on your driveway, private land or public highway as long as there are no parking restrictions.  If it is placed on public land, then a permit will be required.

Please do think where you would like the skip positioned before placing your order.  It will be delivered by lorry and narrow roads, gates and driveways could post an issue.  A full skip lorry can weigh up to 15 tonnes and this could place a strain on your driveway.  If you are unsure, please just ask a member of our Customer Service Team who will be happy to assist.

What can't you put in the skip?

The following items are by arrangement only and will incur additional charges if not agreed beforehand:

  • Mattresses
  • Plasterboard
  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • TVs
  • Monitors
  • Gas cylinders
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Tyres
  • Car batteries
  • Large tree stumps and roots
  • Large amounts of carpet
  • Carpet tiles
  • Vinyl flooring
  • Ceiling tiles
  • Roofing felt
  • Insulation or food waste

Thank you Kenny Skip Hire for a fabulous service. You guidance helped me select the correct skip for my project, you organised the road permit with the council, and helped with the delivery times to fit in with my tradesmen. When I plan my next DIY project, will be back in touch.
